Currently:
-Axes are not used by any class and are sold to NPC for meso, or converted to resources.
-Swords are shared between dawn warriors and heroes, while the other warrior classes use one weapon type.
-Axes are really bad for heroes atm.
Suggestion:
-1. Change Brandish (Hero 4th job) from [2 stabs & a swing] to [3 swings].
-2. Change the Timeless 2-handed axe speed modifier to fast, to follow the 2-handed sword, mace, and in a similar fashion to the polearm and spear.
Some math, from formulas taken from ayumi love (I've tested the numbers, this server uses this set).
-Assumptions stats:
- your dex will be roughly 10% of your main stat
- your stats are 1100 str and 110 dex, or roughly dex is 10% of mainstat for easy maths
-Stat Modifiers
Max = (Weapon Modifier*1.1) * wa/100 - full form --> (WM + Dex) * wa/100
Min = (Weapon Modifier*0.64) * wa/100 - full form --> (WM*0.9*Mastery (0.6) + Dex) * wa/100 - reminder dex is 0.1 of str.
-Weapon modifiers
2HS (Two Handed Sword) - Mainstat Str = 4.6,
2HA ("" Axe, swing) - Mainstat Str = 4.8
2HA ("" Axe, stab) - "" = 3.4
2HA Brandish - ignoring the wa/100 bit.
Brandish, 2 Swings & a Stab for 2HA - Ignoring the wa/100 bit.
Max = 1.1* (4.8*2 (2 swings) + 3.4) = 14.3
Min = 0.64* (4.8*2 (2swings) + 3.4) = 8.3
2HS Brandish - ignoring the wa/100 bit.
Max = 1.1* (4.6*3) = 15.18 (beating the 2HA by ~6.15%)
Min = 0.64* (4.6*3) = 8.8 (beating the 2HA by ~6.4%) Note-the 6~ % should be exactly the same, but are different cause of rounding.
Conclusion: A change to 2 swings and a stab would be a buff to the axe, but the sword will still be stronger than the axe by 6~%.
Others.
1. Defensibility of assumptions: Changing the assumption of dex being ~10% of Str doesn't change the result. This is due to them being common multipliers, (max 1.1, min 0.64). If you change this to, 1.2 and 0.74 per say, since the workings of the weapon modifier are kept the same, the result will still be the same.
2. What about other warriors: All other warriors' 4th job skill always use their best corresponding WM (Weather slash or stab). Additionally, the 2HA is the only warrior weapon without a speed bump in the timeless series.
