Bossing Etiquette
You made it to level 130, congratulations! Here is a detailed rundown on what you need to know before going on boss runs. Please follow these directions to ensure the runs go smoothly and to promote a healthy server community! Remember, the most important thing is that everyone is having fun!
Discord:
- Join the YunaMS Discord (highly recommended) so you can listen in (even if muted) on the communication in voice-chat. We will be calling out dangerous situations such as DR (damage reflect), or mass seduce.
- Get notified for runs by clicking the "Subscribe to @Boss Train" button under the #get-roles section in the Discord.
Before the run:
- Ensure you have prequests done, if not, ask around for guidance!
- Know the mechanics of the boss – most important ones are damage reflect animations and mass seduce thresholds.
- Note that pet loot is auto-disabled in boss maps, so it is useful to unequip your Item Pouch(es). The reason is if your pet tries to grab all the loot, the system will spam your character with “Pet loot is auto-disabled in this map”, which conflicts with your ability to manually loot.
- In case of death, bring Safety Charms (to prevent loss of EXP) and some Wheel of Destiny (to resurrect in the same map).
- If you have any specific drops in mind that you want, please voice it out before the run. You may see what drops from the bosses by typing the command “@whatdropsfrom <mob name>” in-game in all chat, or checking the YunaMS database by typing “@wiki” in-game, or directly on your browser at https://yuna-db.net/mobs
During the run, plan strategically:
- Bosses give “Expedition EXP” to all players in the map leveled 130 or higher, even if you are dead. If the boss is nearby or still dangerous to your character at the moment, consider not reviving yourself until the dangerous part(s) have been killed. If you level-up from gaining expedition EXP while dead, you will also automatically resurrect (without use of wheels).
- Note that some bosses have a death count limit, so do not resurrect freely without a plan!
- All bosses require a 50,000,000 minimum damage requirement before being able to receive Spirit Points at the end of the fight. **This excludes “easier” bosses (Normal Zakum, Normal Scarga, Krexel, Wulin, and Papulatus), due to not having a reasonably sufficient amount of HP to disperse the damage dealt**. If it is a boss you likely will not be able to deal close to this, consider asking your team if it is okay you sit back in a safe spot just to leech EXP.
- If you do not meet the minimum damage requirement for the boss, you may be asked to opt out of the roll for loot (situational/case by case).
When the boss dies:
- It is important to provide fair loot to all players. Unless otherwise agreed by the party, nobody should loot prematurely.
- The leader of the expedition will type the command “@rollmap” in order to roll a 100-sided dice individually for all players in the map. Pay attention to what loot is being rolled for (card only, individual item only, or all loot excluding card.
- Some people may opt to pass on the loot, despite winning the roll. If so, the next highest roll wins.
- Some people may have the same roll, but it is listed alphabetically by IGN in this case. **Please pay attention to this!** If this happens, the two tying players will each type “@roll” individually. The highest roll of the two will win.
- Individual rolls include:
Card
Chaos Scroll
White Scroll
Maple Warrior 20
Maple Warrior 30
Call of Cygnus 20
Call of Cygnus 30
Genesis 20 (from Normal Zakum)
Enraged Zakum Belt (from Chaos Zakum)
Chaos Dragon Stone (from Chaos Horntail)
Chaos Horntail Pendant (if less pendants dropped versus people who need them)
Special case bosses (Pink Bean – Rock of Time, Empress – Empress’ Diamond):
- In these bosses, we will have a trustworthy member of the community loot everything (except for the card). They will then distribute the loot evenly. Any extra drops will be rolled for, with preference descending from the highest roll.
- For the trustworthy member to distribute, please ensure your “Automatic Book/Ore/Scroll Storage” is disabled in Widget.
- During distribution, there will always be a discussion in voice chat on the YunaMS Discord, with the distributor sharing their screen and calling out which items are above or below average, in case any player has a preference.
After the loot has been distributed:
- Talk to the NPC to see the damage charts and to leave the expedition. If you have met the damage requirement, you will receive Spirit Points, scaled to the number of people in the expedition.
- If you are switching characters or leaving between bosses, please leave the party before logging off.
