This topic has always been a point of discussion in the past, but with the recent influx of new players, I believe that this warrants a much closer look than before, as I worry that problems may start arising from the mage playerbase (which has always been of a larger proportion).

The crux of the issue is this: there is only ONE JOB (not class) in the entire game that has access to Magic Crash; the Paladin, which is not even of the Magician class. I do understand that that is an uniqueness of the job, and combined with Threaten, makes them extremely valuable in endgame content; I do not have a problem with that. However, when ALL of the warrior jobs (save for the busted Aran) have Weapon Crash for physical damage, you cannot convince me that there is NO reason for mages to have some semblance of magic penetration again Magic Immunity, especially since mages are supposed to be 'capable bossers'.

Therefore, I have come up with some suggestion to at least help alleviate this issue, or to solve it outright.

- MAGIC PENETRATION (REPLACES MANA REFLECTION/MEGIDDO FLAME)
Ignores xx% of Magic Defence at xx% success rate. I am unclear on the mechanics of Magic Immunity, like if it simply jacks up magic defence so high that magic attacks can only do 1 damage, so I am not setting a set percentage for now. The success rate is to act as a counterbalance for the boosted damage it will inevitably provide during non Magic-immune phases.

-MAGIC PENETRATION(BUFF)
Ignores Magic Defence for 30s; x min CD. A more straightforward answer to Magic Immunity; to prevent abuse (like during non Magic-Immune phases), the CD is added as a countermeasure.

-DIVINE SMITE/INFERNO/ABSOLUTE ZERO/MEGIDDO FLAME
I thought that Blaze Wizards' Megiddo Flame would have been a great answer, if not for the fact that it doesn't work. Therefore, I would suggest a rework of the skill, with application to the Magician class as well.

Applies Magic Crash, 1 minute CD. This would be the easiest to setup, considering it is basically just crash for mages. I am suggesting the CD so that mages will not be able to spam the skill at will. This will preserve the value that Paladins provide, while mages can ensure that they get their biggest DPS (Infinity + EB/CB) out without any fear of screwovers by Magic Immunity.

I do sincerely hope that this can be addressed; mages have always been a huge part of MS, and I do not want to see this point of frustration boil over eventually.

I am welcome to any discussion and suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion! Will happily make some adjustments if we can come to an agreement. Megiddo flame was recently fixed, and for the next patch I plan to make it work on bosses too (since currently its disabled).

However, the concern here is that Blaze Wizards are already very strong, and I dont want to give them an added utility which may overshadow BW over FP/IL mages.

So what if we added this to the newly-added Elemental Reset - the skill will still provide the elemental debuffs, but both FP and IL mages will also have the ability to Magic Crash via this skill.

What do we think?

If you did this, then wouldn't they have to cancel Elemental Reset each time if their intention was to Magic Crash, not Elemental Reset?

We can add to the skill in the sense that, once the skill is casted, it will also Magic Crash upon cast, in addition to buffing them. Just an option though so curious what others think

I agree with Dave. Since the purpose of Elemental Reset is to sacrifice your elemental strength and weakness for a neutral hit. It can be an issue if you're fighting a boss that magic cancels, but is also weak to your element, meaning you'd have to manually cancel the buff before continuing as not to lose out on damage.

I personally think it's best to buff the utility of underutilized skills, so I'd apply the magic crash effect to Seal instead. It's currently completely useless save for niche cases like training at mobs with hard hitting ranged attacks. It'll also serve as sort of a mirror to warrior's crash skills, which are also acquired during 3rd job. It also makes sense in an in-world lore sense.

Don't worry about bishops though, I think they already have more than enough on their plates to also have to use a crash skill.

Agreed with replacing Seal with magic crash, feel like this would be the cleanest solution. Replacing Doom for Bishops would be nice too since there's usually a bishop around, but honestly if the other 3 mages have magic crash then it's enough IMO.

Also throwing out a very chaotic suggestion someone had in-game, which is to change all warriors' (except Pally) crash to magic crash and give mages weapon crash. Would make it harder for any class to solo bosses with weapon / magic cancel and add to the synergy of classes. Just a fun thought, we don't really have to explore this.

I think Bishops would become way too strong if they got magic crash, to the point where they would feel mandatory during runs.

I think adding magic crash as a new skill or changing an old skill would be better. For example, if you're an IL mage and you're fighting a lightning weak boss, whenever you'd crash you would have to cancel Elemental Reset so you can take advantage of its elemental weakness. I think what David's trying to say is Elemental Reset is not a buff you want on all the time so it'd be awkward to take your hands off the keyboard to right click it every time you wanted to crash.

Last time this was brought up on discord there were mentions of DW/all warriors getting magic crash as well, keeping the theme of only warriors having crash available to them. As long as more classes get magic crash, I'd be happy.
