Story time:
I recall the joy of getting rare items. Getting a korean fan was enough reason for me to go delete my lowest character (on classic maple: because slots) and go make a bandit. End of story
The question:
Can we add more drops that are actually rare by classic maple standards? To be clear, I'm not talking about boss drops per se.
Considerations:
@yuna I consider your position in this as well. Making and updating a maple server is very time intensive. Just randomly adding more content is very bothersome. Even if you find content that is not time intensive to add, what about the impact on the game? The items shouldn't break a meta - rather supplement the existing gameplay as is. We're going for the dopamine and serotonin (joy) after all. Regarding what drops what, there are sensible choices to be made, based on what drops and the rarity.
The actual suggestion:
Yet, there are still some options to consider :
2: Create or modify existing items: Creating, well, is creating. The sky is the limit. However, if you want a guarantee of low time investment and keeping the feel and style the same, modifying is the way to go. A few examples:
(a) Golden maple weapons: duplicate -> modify the current maple weapons, and create a gilded/golden variant. Keep it under lvl 100 for balancing reasons, and give them varying stats. For example, one extra scroll slot, a base +10 soft stat (accuracy, speed, jump, whatever) boost.
(b) Dark/corrupted iconic items: duplicate -> modify iconic items, like bone helmet, sauna bathrobe, and such and give it additional stats. Again, I would go for soft stats or minor main stat boosts, or maybe fun effects (whatever is possible. Elemental staffs give % attack boost, sauna bath robe gives increases regen in sauna, who knows what kind of funny/stupid buffs one could implement).
(c) Legendary beginner items: duplicate -> modify beginner items,
(d) whatever your fantasy tells you.
Good to know: I can make and modify sprites, and would be willing to do so.
3: Make overlapping drop pools from existing items: Think about gachapon drops from mobs. This example I would personally be against, because that would feel very unfair to active gachapongamblers users, unless the drop chance is really ridiculously low. However, I imagine that there are other drop pools like that that could be used in a similar manner, internet cafe erasers for example.
4: Misc: This is, well, what it is. Everything that doesn't fit the other categories. Very rare nx drops (1000nx drop wouldn't "ruin" that economy if it was rare), gachapon tickets, random cash boxes,
Good to know: I think the current way items drop is really nice! The drop rate is in a really nice spot.
